Wavelet-domain hidden Markov models
were recently proposed for statistical signal and image
modeling. In this research, two important topics of
wavelet-domain HMMs were studied with respect to the
models and algorithms. One is how to
adapt wavelet-domain HMMs to a variety of statistical image
processing problems with efficient model learning. The
other is how to develop effective inference
algorithms using wavelet-domain HMMs for different
applications, including denoising, segmentation, texture
analysis and synthesis.
